a walk to remember

"I'll fly away, O glory, I'll fly away;
When I die, hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away."

After a week of the hospice nurse walking me through what to expect and with manifested realities being the mainstay of our days, Daddy passed away just before midnight last night.

Before bedtime my husband, Rose, Charlotte and I sang hymns to him. He would have sung along if he could have.

I'll Fly Away,
In the Sweet By and By,
When We all Get to Heaven,
and Nearer My God to Thee

This morning Charlotte came downstairs, and since her bedroom is just across the hall from where Daddy has lived these past two months, she asked, "Where is Granddaddy?"

"He's in heaven, Charlotte."

We embraced. She will always remember this walk too.

Ahh, hugs, my dear friend! May God surround you and your family with His love and strength as you mourn the loss of your Daddy. You remain in my thoughts and prayers.

In Him,

Oh I am so sorry to hear about your father. But how wonderful that you were able to sing hymns to him. What a comfort and beautiful blessing I am sure that was. Praying for you and your Family ~Love Heather

My deepest sympathies. You have touched my heart so with the little you have shared about this journey and I pray the Lord would continue to minister to you and your family in the coming days and months.

May God comfort you all during this time. As soon as I read your title, I knew. It's a walk we all must take with aging parents, and I know the mixture of emotions you must be feeling right now.
What a sweet, sweet way to enter into the presence of our Lord..... the sound of sweet voices of loved ones singing. Praises to our King.

So sorry you had to say farewell to you father.

There is comfort in knowing that he has flown to the arms of his heavenly Father....but it is still so hard to say goodbye.
