I remember a pair of white patent leather shoes that I wore with a dress my mother had made me for Easter Sunday.
I still have the shoes and the dress, they hang in an old trunk I have on display in my 'work' room.
I remember HAVING to own a pair of saddle shoes for my school wardrobe one year. I wore them probably two times and realized none of the other girls had them. I was a few years late on the trend. I never wore them again and always felt guilty about how much they cost because I knew we didn't have much money.
Something else in common, two of our girls have also had red shoes as their first pair of shoes.
