A pan of gingerbread may open several possibilities.
But for me there is no contest...homemade lemon curd; made tart, then warmed and plopped on top to drizzle down all four sides of the slice of gingerbread as it sets upon the dessert plate.
Other noteworthy choices one might consider:
whipped cream,
chocolate sauce or
vanilla ice cream.

My mom used to make a cream cheese frosting for gingerbread, although I have to say lemon curd sounds delicious too. Love the new header, that snowman pic is great!
Lemon curd sounds like a great topping for gingerbread.....yum!
