Being a person that eats bagels but a few times a year, and a quick stop by*Panera will provide delicious bagels at any time, to even entertain the thought that I should actually bake bagels at home seemed rather ambitious. But since this has been the summer of baking, especially with Einkorn flour, I became progressively intrigued with the process of making my own bagels. The boiling of the risen bagel-shaped dough shaped by my own hands (fun!) in baking soda water was definitely the most unique part of making a batch of bagels. And toppings certainly seem essential for presenting good tasting bagels to over-the-top delicious. A mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon is my family's all time favorite topping, but I believe caraway or sesame seeds make for a tasty savory bagel too.
Have you ever tried to make bagels? They are chewy, delicious and seriously taste like bakery bought bagels. Who knew?

OH yum. I have not made bagels, but my husband made them once with our boys. I didn't try them as I don't usually eat them plain, and it seemed a shame to toast them. But I should have. I would like to try making them, myself. Everything is better homemade!
My siblings and I tried our hands at making bagels several years ago. I don't know if they turned out as good as yours, but it certainly was rewarding. Sometimes I like to try baking something just for the accomplishment of trying even if I can buy them far more easily at the store. ;)
