Earnest Hemingway absolutely stated it rightly by saying, "Never go on any trips with anyone you do not love."
It has been decades since my husband and I have taken a long trip together, just the two of us. We both whole-heartedly agree that we are glad we went. Every trip away from home should possess a similar credo.
Are you a bit curious to where we went? Here are a few photos to see if you recognize anything.
Our vacation's destination began and ended in the city of Halifax, Nova Scotia, but squished in-between were wonderful days traveling in our trusty rental car. We drove and viewed the beautiful cliffs, shorelines and mountains of Cape Breton. We enjoyed the farmlands and beaches of Prince Edward Island, and special for me, visited the Anne of Green Gables Museum. We visited a myriad of little renown towns along the south shore way, participating in some of the touristy attractions which always involved local food...meaning seafood. But the best part by far were the people...the amazing people we met along the way.
We stayed in Bed and Breakfasts for the most part, and what we relished the most was how each Bed and Breakfast posed its own uniqueness. The special innkeepers, the delicious breakfast meals, the different homey rooms.
Another extraordinary evening was spent at the home of a Christian homeschooling family that lives on Prince Edward Island. I will not go into any specific details for their privacy's sake, but I will say we accepted their gracious invitation and it truly was as if we knew each other. Their warm hospitality, their kind graciousness, their tasty fellowship meal, and their pleasing conversation still leave a sweet remembrance that I shall never forget.
It gives a faint reminder of what heaven will be like. And I will be able to recognize this precious family there now too! God's people are treasures, we are His church. And Christ is the church's one foundation.
